Road Warrior Nutrition
Eating nutritionally on the road can be a challenge. Fast food chains are cheap and fast, but not always the best choice. Senior Health Coach Penny shares her tips for Road Warrior Nutrition:
I get asked quite often “What do you eat when on the road?”
Some days, I can only eat in the car so everything has to be easy and convenient. I prepare simple grab-and-go foods that take little prep but go the distance nutritionally when traveling. Here is what I packed today:
- apple, plum, blackberries,
- chopped veggies,
- nut butter with honey on whole grain,
- baked chicken tenders from home,
- low-fat cheese stick,
- whole grain crackers,
- boiled eggs,
- utensils/napkins/Ziploc bag for trash/sanitary hand wipes and
- plenty of water!
Staying hydrated and having plenty of water on hand is key! I also make sure to stop every hour and stretch. Going too long without moving your body can cause the build-up of acids in your muscles that cause stiffness and pain so make sure to stretch it out!
